Using energy responsibly

According to the UN Climate Council, we need to stabilise carbon dioxide emissions by 2015 and then reduce them. Climate researchers are calling for a change of attitude to curtail the consequences of global warming. GRAF products are both ecological and of course manufactured in an environmentally-friendly manner.

At GRAF, a great deal of importance is attached to ecological products and environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes. The company therefore commissioned the construction of an injection-moulding machine especially for the manufacture of the Carat underground tank. It was the first in the world for products of this size. Up to 30% fewer raw materials are used, an energy saving of up to 60% is gained and extremely low levels of water are consumed thanks to a closed coolant circuit. The heat generated during manufacturing is processed by a modern heat recovery system and is used to heat the production and logistics building, and will also be used to heat the administration building in the near future.

In 2010, GRAF converted all of its lorries to modern BLUETEC technology. BLUETEC is a modular exhaust cleaning system which uses an exhaust treatment system downstream of the engine to cut emissions. The technology reduces carbon, hydrocarbon, particle and nitric oxide emissions. GRAF lorries therefore satisfy the Euro 5 standard and their impact on the environment is minimised.

Households that are not connected to the public sewage network can purify domestic wastewater themselves using wastewater treatment systems and then discharge it to a running watercourse. Compared with standard wastewater collection tanks, GRAF products extend the cycle of drawing off sludge. Less transport means less CO2 and therefore impacts positively on our climate. 

The Klaro Easy wastewater treatment system is designed to consume a minimum amount of energy. The system’s cycle times automatically adapt to the prevailing circumstances, such as holiday mode, and therefore save electricity and CO2 without sacrificing convenience.
